Tackling Poverty

From just getting by to getting on.

No one in Scotland should struggle for the basics. We’ll make it simple to get help, put more money in families’ pockets, and treat everyone with respect.

1) Income Guarantee

Start a pilot that sets a real minimum income—so no family falls below the basics.

2) Boost Child Support

Raise the Scottish Child Payment, keep it in line with prices, and help more families under pressure.

3) Community Wealth Fund

Back local projects—community kitchens, money advice, credit unions and co-ops that keep wealth in our towns.

4) Make Sure You Get What You’re Due

A permanent take-up drive so people don’t miss out on benefits and support.

5) Respect First

Replace harsh, confusing systems with clear rules and kind, fair treatment.

6) Clear Updates

Simple public updates so you can see what help exists and how fast it’s paid.

HOW WE’LL DELIVER

  • One place to ask for help — a simple online form and local Help Hubs for face-to-face support.

  • Money where it matters — less paperwork, more into grants, advice and local services.

  • Work together — councils, charities and community groups pulling in the same direction.

  • Monthly progress — plain-English updates for every area.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

  • Money faster when things are tight.

  • Less form-filling and fewer hoops to jump through.

  • Local people to talk to in a friendly place.

  • Honest information about what help you can get.
