Welfare of Our Elders and Youth

Dignity, security, connection — and real chances for young people.

Scotland should be a great place to grow older and to grow up. We’ll protect incomes, cut heating costs, tackle loneliness, and make care easier to reach. And we’ll put youth at the heart of national renewal — creating real pathways, fair chances and a stronger voice in decisions.

For Our Elders

1) Secure incomes

Uprate the Scottish Pension Supplement every year (triple lock).

2) Cheaper heating

Automatic
£500 Winter Heating payment for eligible households.

3) Travel made easier

Free bus travel extended—include carers and local ferries/trams.

4) Wellness hubs

50 friendly community hubs—GPs, social spaces, libraries and cafés under one roof.

5) Home-first care

Joined-up health and social care so people can stay independent at home.

6) Connecting Generations

Link schools, youth groups and older people to tackle isolation.

For Scotland’s Young People

Our Vision

Scotland’s future depends on the strength, creativity and wellbeing of its young people. We will put youth at the heart of national renewal — ensuring every child grows up safe, supported and able to shape their own future.

1) Pathways to Opportunity

Expand Developing the Young Workforce — more apprenticeships, practical training and fair routes into quality jobs across all regions.

2) Fair and Compassionate Justice

Invest in youth justice focused on prevention and rehabilitation, not punishment — giving young people a real second chance.

3) Learning for Life

Strengthen Community Learning & Development so every young person can access mentoring, personal growth and community-based education.

4) Empowered Youth Voice

Embed young people in decision-making at every level — from local councils to Parliament — so policies reflect their lived experience.

Our Promise

We will build a Scotland where being young means being heard, valued and supported — not left behind.

HOW WE’LL DELIVER

  • Clear targets for income, heating help and access to care—published for each area.

  • Local partnerships with councils, NHS and charities to run hubs and outreach.

  • Simple routes to get help—one number/online form; support with applications.

  • Regular updates so families know what’s available and how to use it.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

If you’re an older person or carer

  • Reliable income and lower bills through heating support.

  • Places to go for company, advice and activities.

  • Care that comes to you—less time chasing services.

  • Stronger communities where older people are valued and included.

  • Faster fixes and safer neighbourhoods.

If you’re a young person (or parent)

  • Real routes into work — paid starts, skills and support in every region.

  • Help when you need it — mentoring, CLD programmes and fair youth justice.

  • A stronger voice in local and national decisions.
